Taupe colors for kitchen cabinets

Taupe is a neutral, earthy color that falls somewhere between gray and brown. It is a complex hue that can have subtle undertones of pink, purple, or green. Taupe is often described as a warm, cozy color that exudes a sense of sophistication and elegance. Its muted, understated quality makes it a popular choice for interior design. Taupe is a versatile color that can work well with a variety of other shades. Overall, taupe is a timeless and classic color that adds a touch of refinement to any setting.

I sampled some of the most popular Benjamin Moore light and dark taupe colors in my South-facing kitchen. Here are some of my favorites:

STONE HEARTH BY BENJAMIN MOORE (CC-490)

Stone Hearth has a slightly warm undertone that gives it a cozy and inviting feel. The color is deep and rich, with a subtle purple undertone.

PALE OAK by Benjamin Moore

Pale oak is a light taupe color (even more of a greige) with a subtle yellow undertone that creates a sense of depth and interest. It can sometimes flash a violet-pink undertone as well.

RANCHWOOD BY BENJAMIN MOORE (CC-500)

Ranchwood is a classic taupe that has some beige and red in it.

TAOS TAUPE by Benjamin Moore

Taos Taupe has a violet undertone but with its reduced warmth, it could easily be mistaken for a warm gray.

REVERE PEWTER (HC-172)

Also considered a gray or a greige, this light taupe color is a slightly muddy, soft, slightly green-tinged gray.

SMOKEY TAUPE BY BENJAMIN MOORE (CC-460)

Smokey taupe is deep and complex, with hints of both brown and gray that create a subtle, smoky effect.

PIGEON by Farrow & Ball (No. 25)

Pigeon is a cozy and nostalgic blue grey that is also sometimes considered a taupe.
