Not sure what height your stools should be? Here are some general rules:

If the bottom of your counter is...

• around 35-37 inches high, you should opt for a counter-height barstool that is anywhere from 23 to 28 inches floor to seat (usually it is around 25 inches)

• around 41-43 inches high, a bar-height stool is preferable, which runs from 29 to 32 inches floor to seat.

How many stools can you fit? You should allow about 6 to 12 inches between the edge of each barstool, or 24 inch from the center of one stool to the center of another.

A footrest adds a nice touch so people have somewhere to place their feet. Swivel bar stools make it easy for guests to turn around and talk among themselves at your home bar. A wood stool adds a timeless look and is easily wipeable.
